One Dead In Early Morning Home Fire

PHOTO: A fire in a Raintree home left a man dead early this morning, officials say. The call for the Lanes Mill Road fire came in at about 12:45 AM, officials say, and upon arrival, emergency personnel found the home fully engulfed in flames. Residents outside the home told fire personnel that there was one family member unaccounted for, officials say.

Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford released the following statement to TLS: “At approximately 12:45 a.m. this morning, Lakewood Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a residence on Lanes Mill in Lakewood. Upon arrival, emergency personnel observed a residential structure on fire with numerous residents outside. Residents advised that an adult male was still inside the residence. A search of the interior resulted in the discovery of the body of an adult male”.

All Lakewood’s fire companies responded to the scene, as well as mutual aid from neighboring Brick Township. The fire was placed under control about an hour later.

“An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of his death”, Ford said.

ForInvestigators from the Lakewood Police Department, the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office are on scene conducting an investigation into the fire’s cause and origin. The identity of the victim will not be released until his next of kin can be notified.” TLS.

  1. #1. Very smart. If you would be the investigator in this town it would be quite easy to commit a murder. Just put the house on fire afterwards. Only rocket scientist can figure this one out.

  2. Well some houses in that area deal drugs.(I used to be a lot in that area and even notified police about it & they said they know ) so it could be they are looking into a possibility that he was on some

  3. the end of Lanes Mill Road is filled with houses over-crowded with illegals. this is typical slum-lord shenanigans. and it just so happens the victim is a Hispanic.
the slum-lords allow over-crowding and never maintain the dwellings so residents are forced to use excessive amounts of space heaters which all over-load the wiring in the house = causing fires.

  4. Who cares if some people in the area deal drugs someone died in this home..That is what the scoop is reporting. No one needs to speculate how it happened or what went on in the house..Someone died, the people are now homeless and they are mourning the loss of possibly one of the bread winners in the house..show some respect. If it was your family you would want the same thing. Really

  5. To #1 I am taking your comment as a sacrastic one. Just because a body was found in a burnt out building does not mean he was burnt to death. He could have been deceased before the fire. Possibly from a heart attack or something. Perhaps some other medical condition. Maybe murder, where the house was deliberately set ablaze, just to cover up the act. Amazing to know what an autopsy will reveal. True an autopsy is desecration of the body BUT in suspicious cases like this it is warranted.

  6. this was not an overcrowed house, small children , only 6 people in the house at the time of fire. never any problems there!
so very sorry for their loss, family is now displaced and someone’s family member has died.

  7. anytime a life is lost its a tragedy , the sad part is it happens way to often here in Lakewood where there are NO controls in place for rentals,
more concerns for street lighting and other far less important issues .

  8. Just because someone is Hispanic doesn’t mean they are illegal. Lets hope the family has people to help them in their time of sadness.

  9. Its crazy how people can act like if someone is illegal or a drug dealer that their not a kind hearted person or that their life doesn’t matter every life is worth living no matter what they do or what they are people have to realize no one deserves death “NO ONE”
