Sources tell TLS that State Senator Bob Singer, Assemblyman David Rible and Assemblyman Sean Kean will be addressing the public meeting to help impress upon the NJTPA the importance of widening the 9.
Also attending will be Mayor Isaac Akerman, Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein and representatives of many organizations and communities within Lakewood.
This comes as a grassroots effort gains momentum to bring as many members of the public to the meeting as possible to demonstrate that widening is the only solution to the congestion on the 9.
The meeting is going to take place this Tuesday in the Lakewood Municipal Building from 5 – 8:30 pm. It is an open meeting, so you may come and go as is convenient.
“For maximum impact, make sure to sign in at the entrance and leave feedback on the survey that widening the 9 is the only way forward,” says an activist involved in the efforts. “Even if that option is not listed, you may fill it in by “other”.”

Are they going to knock down houses to widen it? How would they be able to widen it?
They had meetings on this years ago with suggestions of a bypass and still nothing accomplished. Don’t hold your breathe waiting for a solution.
As per the question if they need to knock down houses to widen, take a careful drive and you will notice that besides poles and some grass, nothing needs to be annexed.
The only structure that may need to be dealt with is at the corner of James and Rte 9.
Who’s going to pay for improvements my property taxes are already thru the roof!
