Officials Look To Crack Down On Alcohol Drinking At The Muster Zone

Beer bottles at the Muster Zone are being emptied by police on what has become almost a daily basis, sources tell TLS. The issue of the day laborers occupying the streets of downtown was strictly enforced after Deputy Mayor Langert called for an end to it, but police have yet to resolve the issue of the laborers drinking alcohol in public.

Over the last few weeks, police have responded to the Mustar Zone multiple times – including today – in an attempt to stop the laboroers from consuming alcohol at the Employment Zone, area businessman tell TLS. On several ocasions, cops were seen taking bottles away from the laborers and pouring out its contents.

It’s unclear if any summonses were issued, but the laborers are back at it, with no end in sight.

Deputy Mayor Langert tells TLS he will be looking into this issue.

Since the Muster AKA Employment Zone was enforced by the Committee, numerous tickets have been issued to laborers for soliciting employment on Clifton Avenue and surrounding streets outside the designated area.

There is a $250 fine for violating the ordinance, created in February of last year. TLS-MK.

  1. So shocking!

People who are here illegally…. corralled into a designated area to violate the law by working illegally….are drinking illegally in public? what a shock! I am sure the authorities are on top of the situation!

  2. A few weeks ago I picked up a laborer to help clean my basement. After taking him to my home I noticed he had trouble walking straight. I then observed him via camra sitting on my chair staring into space. I then clled a neighbor for cover and asked him to leave. Something must be done abnout this! Im done with picking up straingers from the employment zone. The ones waiting on Clifton are much better

  3. my wife works nearby and parks in that lot.

I hope the POLICE will strictly enforce the rules for her safety.

HANG UP SIGNS IN SPANISH or show a sign with a X and a bottle of boozze so they get the idea.

  4. #6 You broke many laws that are much worse then drinking in public.
Did you pay social security tax , and disability tax on your employee? and we won’t get into the wire tap laws for your video observation.

  5. Yeah this is totally wrong. I pass through that parking lot all the time as a shortcut to town and always see them hanging out. I don’t see any alcohol but I believe it. I try not to pass through the lot if I don’t have to, but sometimes I’d hear a guy whistling in a way possibly to get my attention.
They need a new place to hang out. Possibly someplace indoors where the public doesn’t have to see them hanging out on the streets. They hang around town looking as if they’re waiting for a bus or something. I hope Mayor Miller can help make a big change.

  6. The real problem here that no one is willing to face is the fact that these laborers are used to drinking Mexican made beer such as Corona only.
Any other type affects their performance.
I would propose the township sponsor free Corona (maybe (moderated) would take the initiative on his own!) and ,viola! no more problemo!
