‎Officials this afternoon identified the body found last night in a vacant Lakewood home, the Prosecutor’s Office said.

“An autopsy conducted earlier this afternoon by Dr. Ian Hood of the Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Michael Matthews, 45 years of age,” the Prosecutor’s Office said. “Michael’s last known address was Lynnwood Avenue, Brick, NJ. Next of kin has been notified.”

Dr. Hood was not able to conclusively determine the cause of death at this time. Currently, there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Michael’s death found.

The official cause of death is pending a toxology report. A tox report typically takes four to six weeks to complete.
