its still called tzar bale chaim to shoot a deer even if it has wounds on it
1. Are you a poisek?
2. Can you provide chapter and verse of the source of your “:halacha lemasa”
3. Does the fact that the poor deer was infected with flies and maggots have any bearing on your “:halacha lemasa”?
4. Did you take all the pertinent facts and deduce your “psak”?
5. In your opinion, does it make a difference if the deer would have a small boo-boo or if it is gushing blood and and screaming in pain?
Points to ponder .
FULL DISCLOSURE: I am not a poisek nor do I know the halacha in this matter but my guess in regard to my previous enumerated questions is:
1. Your not a posiek
2. You don’t have a source to given facts.
3. You did not think of all the given facts.
4. see 3.
5. Waiting for your response
In summary,I think no one should issue p’sakim in regard to issues that are so fact sensitive unless they can cite sources.
Furthermore, the officer is not bound by halacha, but, by the New Jersey law ,and, if the officer followed proper procedure, I salute him.
you can’t let that animal suffer he did the right thing.
I think the officer did a heroic job by putting a suffering animal with diseases and injuries most likely suffered from an automobile accident out of its misery. Wild animals cannot be made pets, and sometimes level heads must prevail.
should this not have been the job of animal control to put the animal down, rather than have a cop discharge his weapon in public?
If the officer woud’nt have killed it, it would have died sooner or later from pain anyway. I think the officer did a knoble and terrific deed.
it’s good he did it, otherwise i’d have to see that deer at the popcorn zoo next chol hamoed 🙂
You probably will still see it in the zoo on chol hamoed.
I think the officer did the humane thing and he should get an award. Do they make a citation bar for this kind of service performed so he can wear it proudly?
If a person chas v’shalom has cancer, he would still want to live, even if he would have to have surgery every day of his life! Therefore, I’m sure this deer would want to live as long as he can, even if he would have to have a great deal of pain.Because every day is precious!
Chances are he would have survived. Maggots only eat dead flesh, so they were actually keep the animal infection free. I’ve seen it before. Some Doctors use this method the heal wounds that won’t heal. It was not necessary to kill the deer.
Lakewood animal control does not have the abiliy to put and animal down. I believe they can only take the animal to a shelter at the townships expense.
To no. 10. Do you understand the shlavim of creatures? domem, tzomeach,etc..? It seems like you don’t for you are equalling what ppl want out of life to what animals want. Maybe you’re from PETA, are a vegetarian, I’m not sure, but please reserve funny comments for the shabbos table, in your own home.
Popcorn zoo? I never saw any animals by the popcorn zoo. I just go there to eat popcorn.
