The NJ OEM (Office of Emergency Management) today released an important message from the NWS Mt. Holly Forecast Office, regarding a potential powerful storm to hit the region early next week.
“There is the potential for a very powerful and dangerous autumn storm to affect our region early next week. This storm will be associated with what is currently Tropical Storm Sandy. There is a growing threat of strong winds, very heavy rainfall, coastal flooding and inland flooding to affect our region early next week.”
The briefing package can be viewed here.
• Potential for a very dangerous autumn storm system to affect the region early next week.
• This storm will be associated with what is currently Tropical Storm Sandy. This storm system will bring multiple potential threats to the region.
• Strong damaging wind gusts, extremely heavy rainfall, major inland flooding and major coastal flooding are all possible with the storm.
• The track of the storm will determine the area which is impacted; there is considerable uncertainty with the storm track this far in advance of the event. TLS via OEM.
The key word is potential. Just remember they can’t predict tonight’s weather right. How do they expect to get next week’s right.
Yes, #1, but storms do come to pass from time to time. So it pays to be aware and to be prepared. Be dumb and safe. Not smart and unsafe.
Thank you for giving us really important info. Very helpful! Even if it is only potential! I assume you will update us.
Of course they can’t predict tonights weather. They only get it right about 99% of the time.
Is it supposed to hit ny
perhaps the shaking weather will shake us up to finally return to Hashem with teshuva towards mashaich & geula.
i.e. tragedies & other catastrophic tzaros won’t wake us up & change our ways to facing these bad times R”L & asking why are there so much tzaros R”L if this doesn’t work then Hashem needs to return us to Teshuva & torah through other ways.
sometimes its done through shaking tsunami’s & hurricanes etc….
hopefully we can start to accept hashem wake-up calls already
So if you have a sump pump and a few extra flashlights, nosh and water bottles you’ll be fine.
half the computer models are forcasting the storm to head out to sea with almost no impacts but a couple of the models are showing a nasty hurricane/northeaster for the east coast. it is extremely rare for a storm to take a turn up the coast and maintain its strength so these models are being taken with a grain of salt. on the small chance that it does indeed head this way and it also strengthens to the unusual degree this model is showing the impacts would be devastating. so all in all probably nothing but definitely keep an eye out for it.
Stock up on bread and milk now—–this is to be the storm of the century
Actually number 8, Yesterday only one model was forecasting it to go inland and hit us late today 60% of the models are predicting some kind of hit.

Typical weather and news media scarecast. Just create all the havic they can muster up.
It’s those Democrats trying to scare us away from the voting poles.
They got no clue whats going to be we will have to wait till it comes here
This is not to be taken lighTly there is a strong channce that the jersy coast will take a direct hit if that happens major flooding, power outages and tornados will be a given!
Please. Remmember to always be safe then sorry and start preperations now!
FYI the storm will pull very cold air in on the backside and if the power goes out it maybe out for days and with no heat and temp dipping in to the 30s that will be a major issue aswell
