October WIC Benefits Delayed due to Near Government Shutdown

Due to the potential government shutdown last month, which was averted at the last moment due to a temporary deal agreed to in Congress, the Ocean County WIC Program had to wait for the House and Senate to approve funding for the federal government at current levels, causing the processing of the October benefits to be delayed.

Unfortunately, the process of reapplying the benefits must be done household-by-household.

In an email to WIC members, the Ocean County WIC Program has been notifying affected households that they may experience a small delay before seeing benefits available on their eWIC card for this month.

WIC members are encouraged to check their WIC Shopper App or call the number on your card to assess your balance prior to shopping for your WIC items at this time.

“We are working hard to process these as quickly as possible and sincerely appreciate your patience.  We are aware this is occurring and, at this time, our Call Center and email representatives are not able to process these any faster than current levels.  Thank you so much for your investment in the WIC program – we are doing everything we can to support you during this time,” WIC wrote in their email.
