Most of the fatalities happen from speeding or careless driving however only 1 speeding ticket given most were equipment and seatbelts . So sad that OCPO can’t stop discriminatating against the orthodox community in Lakewood .
Actually most fatalities are due to people not wearing their seat belts and distracted driving. Speed doesn’t necessarily always kill. Google the accident/death toll on the Autobahn in Germany and you’ll see that is a fact.
OCPO discriminates against people who break the law. You break the law, you get a ticket Grow up.
Yakkov, it’s difficult for me to understand how the statistics presented equate to discriminating against Jews. Can you please explain? If Jews are the majority of population in Lkwd then it would make sense that they had higher numbers of citations. But the reality is these statistics are not broken up by religious affiliation at all.
The main issue I think was stated in a previous post. The enforcement was brought in as a result of fatalities. However, most of these occurred on Saturday. Why was the crackdown specifically NOT on a Saturday? There are also other townships with high fatality rates, yet they are not focusing their efforts there at all… I don’t think anyone feels lawbreakers shouldn’t be punished. This looks like it is targeting the Jewish Lakewood community.
In New Jersey it’s Illegal to discriminate and pull over a certain population based on racial or religious differences makeup . Just look what happened to Mahwa and the parks… OCPO found a way around that . It’s called Lakewood
Everyone keeps saying that it was targeting a specific population because it didn’t start on a Friday night into Saturday. Anyone who works a job that requires shifts to be worked at all time understands that these are some of the hardest to fill. Also it seems that the police need to be ever vigilant and available for other crimes that tend to happen during weekend and Friday/Saturday night hours. It may not have been a feasible task for the police force to pull away an adequate number of officers from other, more pressing positions, during such a high crime and low staff time.
Discrimination. They started only after sundown Saturday night….
