Nine firefighters from Lakewood are among a group of 30 volunteer firefighters from around the County who will be graduating the Fire Academy next month.
After about six months of intense training and completed final exams, the volunteers have become full-fledged firefighters, ready to risk their lives for their respective communities.
From Lakewood, the following nine men will be graduating: Station 64: Motti Moerman, Ovaid Battat, Boruch Lang and Hillel Kaluszyner; Station 65: Nelson Carver and Eddie Romanchik; Station 66: Avrumi Mutterperl; Station 67: Leiby Friedman; Station 68: Shlolmo Cochavi.
“I’m proud to have joined the brotherhood,” says volunteer Leiby Friedman. “It started off as a dream, but with the help of the great instructors and the great group of guys in the class, that dream became a reality.”
Friedman adds, “It’s an honor to be able to serve the community, and I’m looking forward.”
The graduation will be taking place on January 29, 2015 in Waretown, NJ.
