Ocean County in partnership with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) is conducting a study to investigate options for improving congestion and safety along Kennedy Boulevard and County Line Road from Laurelwood Avenue to Squankum Road in Lakewood Township.
This study is federally funded through the NJTPA working in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.
The LCD Study is the first phase of the project development process. This phase includes the following: evaluate existing conditions; develop a Purpose and Need Statement; create and complete an Alternatives Analysis; and recommend Preliminary Preferred Alternative of improvements to advance to future phases of design and implementation.
Community involvement and public outreach is an integral part of the study. Throughout the process, local officials, community stakeholders and the public will have an opportunity to participate, provide input, ask questions and submit written comments for consideration.
An online Public Information Center meeting will be held on Thursday, August 8 between 5PM and 7PM, to inform the public about existing conditions at the intersection and to receive input and comments regarding the project’s Purpose & Need statement which will be later used to guide the development of conceptual alternatives.
You can attend the meeting here.
More studies & more studies…….
Probably all being done during the Summer / Bein Hazmanim…..
At least it’s a start
As usual they will probably decide to add more traffic lights, rather than lanes
Sync the (moderated) light
County Line should have Four Lanes
To do that would mean buying homes and businesses.
More traffic lights are essential
Waste of money, we all know the drivers dont respect traffic signals in lakewood, specially those that aren’t law enforcement and have red-blue lights on their cars, everyone running stop signs, everyone on the phone while driving, etc etc…
Waste of money
Time to make county line one way and kennedy one way. Each going opposite directions. That would give 3 lames to each direction with dedicated turning lanes for all turns.
for starters…driving north-bound on squankum rd aftr county line/kennedy the road surface is in horrible condition & really needs to be repaved asap,
Simple. Drop the speed limit. West County Line in Jackson, though it has a divider, has a 40 mph speed limit. As soon as you hit Lakewood, there is no divider, and speed limit goes up to 45mph. It should be 35mph.
Or hear me out we can stop building in ocean county !!!!
Enforce no left turns out of the exit closest to Rt 9 of the former Shoprite lot and out of TD Bank. They both snarl traffic!
An improved intersection will not stop the unsafe drivers here. If we had more rigorist enforcement along with stiffer penalty’s it may be safer.
