Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force makes Drug Arrests in Lakewood

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced the culmination of a month long investigation into illegal drug activity in Ocean County. Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Narcotics Strike Force collaborated with the Lakewood Township Police Department to conduct an investigation into the distribution of Marijuana and THC Vaping Oils in the Lakewood area.

On Monday, March 4, 2019, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force Detectives, along with members of the Lakewood Police Street Crimes Unit and the Lakewood Police Special Response Team executed a no-knock search warrant at a Lakewood address. As a result of the investigation and the execution of the search warrant, Detectives seized quantities of Marijuana, THC Extract, THC Vaping Oil, and Drug Paraphernalia indicative of the Manufacture and Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substances and $7,500.00 in cash.

Henry Martin, 32, of Lakewood, was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute More than One Ounce But Less Than Five Pounds of Marijuana In or Within 500 Feet of a Public Housing Project, Possession with the Intent to Distribute More Than One Ounce but Less Than Five Pounds THC Extract, Possession with the Intent to Distribute More Than One Ounce but Less Than Five Pounds of Marijuana, Possession of More Than 50 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Less Than Fifty Grams of THC Extract and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Martin is lodged in the Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.

Janice Rivera, 31, 32, of Lakewood, was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute More than One Ounce But Less Than Five Pounds of Marijuana In or Within 500 Feet of a Public Housing Project, Possession with the Intent to Distribute More Than One Ounce but Less Than Five Pounds THC Extract, Possession with the Intent to Distribute More Than One Ounce but Less Than Five Pounds of Marijuana, Possession of More Than 50 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Less Than Fifty Grams of THC Extract and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Rivera is lodged in the Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.

Darian Buddoo, 32, of Lakewood, was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute More than One Ounce But Less Than Five Pounds of Marijuana In or Within 500 Feet of a Public Housing Project, Possession with the Intent to Distribute More Than One Ounce but Less Than Five Pounds THC Extract, Possession with the Intent to Distribute More Than One Ounce but Less Than Five Pounds of Marijuana, Possession of More Than 50 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of Less Than Fifty Grams of THC Extract and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Buddoo is lodged in the Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Asset Forfeiture Unit will determine if additional charges are warranted.

I was not a fan of Governor Murphy’s legalization of marijuana. But after reading this, that they spent a month going after some guy with a bit of marijuana, maybe it’s not so bad to legalize.
