PHOTOS: Ocean County Officials Celebrate Opening of New $1.5 Million Slide City Playground In Lakewood

The Ocean County Board of Commissioners hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning, to officially open the new Slide City Playground at Ocean County Park in Lakewood.

The event began at 10 a.m. at the park, located at 659 Ocean Avenue, and was attended by local and county officials, community members, and families eager to see the upgraded recreational area.

The $1.5 million dollar playground features modern equipment, including multiple slides, climbing structures, and inclusive play areas designed for children of various ages and abilities.

The ceremony was organized by the Ocean County Office of Public Affairs. Refreshments were served following the ribbon cutting.

Commissioner Director John P. Kelly, Deputy Director Frank Sadeghi, Liaison Robert S. Arace, and Commissioners Jennifer Bacchione, Virginia E. Haines and Commissioner-elect Sam Ellenbogen were among those present to mark the opening.

Wheeeee! Lakewood Committeeman Meir Lichtenstein was offered $1,000 to the charity of his choice if he went down the zip line at the new Slide City Playground – and he did it.

Given the current crisis with SNAP, Committeeman Lichtenstein donated the funds to Tomchei Shabbos in Lakewood.

The county just upgraded Patriot’s Park in Jackson. That’s the only county park in Jackson. The rest are township owned.
Jackson definitely could benefit from a few more playgrounds and parks (with facilities for teenagers and adults such as sports fields and courts, walking and biking paths and trails), but that is the township council’s department, not the county.

Sounds like you know how to work the system. Whom would I contact in Jackson township to request a park?

Wow! This is amazing!! THANK YOU!

one point, The park needs trees or a giant canopy to block the sun a bit.

Additionally, for a few thousand more, please add some benches around the playground with either canopies or trees providing shade over them so the parents can enjoy watching their kids too.

a park needs trees and benches.
