O.C. Prosecutor’s Office: No man made materials used in trash can explosion in Barnegat

oc-sheriff-csi-ciu-crime-sceneThe Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office this morning announced that the trash can explosion in Barnegat several months ago was not caused by any man made materials.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office received the follow-up report regarding the investigation from Shoshanna Hayesaha, a post blast expert with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

“Special Agent Hayesaha advised that the explosion was organic, and not caused from any man made materials,” the Prosecutor’s Office said. “The report could not rule out decomposed organics from the mulch, sticks, and other debris within the trash can forming an endothermic reaction resulting in the production of heat as the cause.”

Nobody was injured in the blast.
