freeholders flu shotsOcean County freeholders (pictured) are reminding Ocean County residents to get their annual influenza vaccine to guard against the flu during the upcoming flu season. Seasonal flu shots will be given at 47 different sites throughout Ocean County. In addition, the county Health Department will hold two Saturday clinics for Ocean County residents nine years old and older. The first of the Saturday clinics is scheduled for October 10 at the Ritacco Center, Toms River and October 24 at Southern Regional High School, Stafford Township. Both clinics will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The flu and pneumonia shot is free if a person is enrolled in Medicare Part B. There is a cost of $20 if you are not enrolled in Medicare Part B or if you have a Medicare Managed Care Plan. A listing of the seasonal flu clinics is available on the health department’s Web site at www.ochd.org. Information also is available by calling the health department at 732-341-9700, ext. 7502 or ext. 7604 for information on children six months to eight years old.

Seasonal flu shots are especially recommended for people at high risk of flu complications including children under the age of 2 and older adults. Manchester Times.
