CAUTION: Several readers have asked us to post the following notice. As the Fall approaches, the days are getting shorter and many children remain playing in the streets past nightfall. One reader told us, he was just inches away from running over a child on a bike this evening as he was turning into a development. We would like to remind parents, if your child remains outside after nightfall, please make sure they’re wearing reflectors. Of course, while under supervision. Please don’t rely on the Angel watching over your child, or a miracle.

How young are we talking? Are there parents out there who let their 10 year old outside to play when it just happens to be dark earlier? That is a total lack of parenting and protection of your child! Another point I’d like to add. What are with these young kids riding their bikes in the street like it’s their very own playground??? Don’t tell me it’s the kid’s fault. A parent should know where their child is, and what they are doing at all times. No excuses.
Also, a reminder to drivers out there. You must YIELD right of way to a pedestrian when making a turn. It’s the law. Obey it.
Reminder to pedestrians: Drivers will only yield if they can see you,WEAR REFLECTORS !!
