Faced with over $7 billion in losses this year, the United States Postal Office today released a list of 700 post offices nation wide that are prime candidates for closure in order to consolidate and lower expenses. In recent cost cutting and revenue generating measures, the Postal Service has removed mailboxes, laid off tens of thousands of workers, raised postage by 2 cents and now plans to cut locations. Thankfully, for the most part, New Jersey was spared in this first round of cuts. No post offices in Ocean County were identified, but South Camden, Trenton Chamersburg and Trenton Yardville post offices in Southern New Jersey are on the block. Joining them will be six offices in Northern New Jersey in Patterson, Elizabeth and Newark. Postal officials say that other locations may and probably will be added at a future time. JNJO
