NJ Teen Drivers Will Pay $4 For License Decals

newdriverstickerNew Jersey drivers younger than 21 will pay $4 for a pair of license plate decals they’ll be required to display starting May 1. The state Division of Motor Vehicles said Monday it has awarded a $664,000 contract to a Chicago-based firm to manufacture the reflective red stickers. They’re designed to help police identify vehicles operated by teenage drivers so officers can enforce restrictions on passenger limits and a night driving curfew. The decals are required under “Kyleigh’s Law,” named in memory of a 16-year-old central New Jersey high school student killed in a car driven by another teen in 2006.

On Friday, a judge in Morris County dismissed a lawsuit questioning the law’s constitutionality. AP

  1. “…it has awarded a $664,000 contract to a Chicago-based firm to manufacture the reflective red stickers…”

The state wants to keep jobs in NJ so why not a firm in NJ? They had to go all the way to Chicago to have them made? Which politician has a relative that works for the firm?

  2. Lol….I am guessing that it might be the same Chicago sticker company that did the inspection stickers a couple of years ago that kept falling off!

  3. There is nothing as unpredictable as my wife’s driving(except for her parking). Glass repair shops track her driving route and plan accordingly. She leaves a trail of cracked mirrors and hasn’t a clue that she even hit something. I say tefilas haderech when she does a carpool run.

  4. My wife would have trouble parking on an airport runway.
She usually only dents the cars in front and in back of her but occasionally she hits the 2nd car in front of her as well. I have a
pre-printed apology note to place on windshields.
Our insurance agent has married off three children so far on his commissions.
