New Jersey, we have a problem. A big, bad problem. And it doesn’t seem like politicians are doing anything to try to stop it either.
What is it? Well, New Jersey residents are fleeing the Garden State more than any other state in the country, according to a study by United Van Lines. That’s right – New Jersey ranks #1 for something, and it says pretty much everything you need to know about the state of things in NJ.
While New Jersey might seem to be an ideal place to live – the state has sprawling suburbs, beaches, and parks, and is between two major business hubs in New York City and Philadelphia – residents don’t feel all that lucky to be here. In fact, the study shows that 66.8% of all moves in New Jersey are outbound – residents heading to other states. More than a third of moves were working people searching for better business opportunities and another third were retirees looking for a better place to relax.
This isn’t a new phenomenon; New Jersey has been in the top-10 of states residents are fleeing for a decade. The Garden State’s unemployment rate is the lowest ever recorded and some studies show that wages in the state are slowly rising. Even so, its burdensome taxes, cost of living, and of course, its disastrous roads are compelling its residents to throw their hands up in despair and just leave. What a shame.
Perhaps it’s time for ALL of us to take the message and move directly with Aliya to Eretz Yisroel. Do it now and don’t wait till it gets worse C”V
Oh is that the reason for all that terrible traffic on James street and Central Avenue every morning?? I was taka wondering where everyone was going. I guess they are fleeing the state. ????
