NJ Family Care enrollment delay update

Due to unknown reasons, the NJ Family Care enrollment process is currently taking 3-4 months for approval.

NJ Family Care is NJ’s federal and state health insurance program. New income guidelines have recently been released, allowing for more people to qualify for the benefits.

There are several ways to apply for coverage.

Be sure to have the following ready as you apply: Date of Birth for each family member, social security number, home address, phone number, and income statements.

If you are currently an NJ Family Care member and you need to switch your HMO because your provider no longer accepts your HMO or for any other reason, the only way this can be done is by calling NJ Family Care at 1 800 701 0710.

The current process to switch your HMO is currently taking an average of 2-3 months to complete. Be sure to have the following ready when you call: Case/Policy # and your home zip code, or the Social Security # and DOB of person on the policy.

Other things to note:

  • Parents with Children under 18 must all be enrolled on the same HMO
  • Remember you must renew your NJ Family Care benefits annually
