NJ American Water customers in Ocean, Monmouth counties asked to reduce water consumption

Due to the hot, dry weather, New Jersey American Water is urging customers in Monmouth and Ocean Counties to voluntarily reduce water consumption.

The company wrote, “Use odd/even watering schedule, water your lawn only when it needs it, use a broom instead of a hose to clean outdoor areas, avoid washing your car, topping off water fountains or pools and any other non-essential outdoor water uses.”

Temperatures in Lakewood neared 100 for the last few days.

  1. WOW! Its hot out there stop using too much water.

Then 2 weeks from now American Water Company will be in front of the Board of Public Utilities asking for a rate raise to make up for lost revenue and needing more money to upgrade the water lines to keep up with the demand.

  2. Where I live, I see mothers sitting and shmoozing and not realizing their hoses are running for hours on end. (Their kids are often on to the best friends house and the mother is oblivious ). And it’s those same ppl who complain about the bills. How ironic!

  3. Your bill will be the same wether you use the same amount of water or reduce usage
My bill is always the same including one month that I was away for almost 3 weeks
