Night Out Against Crime to Include Bike Registration

bike registAs earlier reported, the annual ‘Night Out Against Crime,’ one of the most popular and well attended events in this town, was postponed to Thursday, August 14th this year.

Kids and adults alike enjoy being able to shake hands with elected officials, police officers, fire marshals and other volunteer servicemen and women, explore their vehicles and spend time together as a community in a meaningful way. The event is always very happening, with lots of good food, giveaways and raffles, intertwined with crime prevention and safety education.

A feature of the evening will be Bike Registration as a Summer Safety Initiative, a joint project of LCSW and the LPD. Organizers urge all bike owners with unregistered bikes to bring the bikes to the event and have them registered at the Bike Registration Booth. Bike registration is free and can prevent theft or assist in the retrieval of stolen bikes. To expedite the process please be sure to bring a clearly printed card with the following information: name of bike owner, address, phone number, make, model, serial # of bike (to be found on bottom of bike), color of bike and date obtained.

If you are interested in volunteering (male or female) for this event and are available from 3:30pm until 8pm on August 14th, or for other community events, please call the LCSW special events department at 732 367 5279 ext 2.
