The new pre-Pesach trash pickup tested in Lakewood this year, was overall tremendously successful, both the Mayor and Department of Public Works Director told TLS. DPW Director Pat Donnelly and Mayor Ray Coles say they received several complaints from people who were missed, but say eventually all were picked up – though delayed.
“The community adapted well,” says Donnelly, who commended the staff for a job well done.
Mayor Coles says he was glad the town was able to provide the service, which helped alleviate a lot of the pre-Pesach traffic around town, and enhanced safety.
Coles and Donnelly say there are already talks in place on how to improve and expand services for next year.
In the coming years, they hope to speed up the service, and perhaps hire outside contractors to serve the masses more efficiently.
“Hopefully this eliminate a little anxiety too!” says Mayor Coles.
The Mayor thanked the men and women of the DPW for their around-the-clock efforts, and the Director for running a smooth operation.
“Pat has been fantastic, and very proactive,” says Coles, and says “he’s on track to do an even better job next year.”
