New PATH Fares go into Effect Sunday

The higher fare hikes come just a week after New York City instituted its congestion pricing plan for drivers entering parts of Manhattan

Beginning Sunday morning, PATH commuters entering and leaving New York City will have a more expensive commute, as fares will go up for the first time since 2014.

Prices for a single trip on PATH will increase from $2.75 to $3.00 starting Sunday, while a 10-trip card will increase from $26.00 to $28.50. A 30-day pass will increase from $110.25 to $120.75.

The fare hikes were announced last November and come just a week after New York City instituted its congestion pricing plan for drivers entering lower and Midtown Manhattan.

In related news, the Hoboken PATH station will close for the entire month of February for track and station work.

The Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) is a 13.8-mile rapid transit system which services the northeastern New Jersey cities of Newark, Harrison, Jersey City, and Hoboken, as well as Lower and Midtown Manhattan.

It is operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
