New Off-Duty Cop Rates Expected To Add Over $150k Annually to Twp Coffers

Hiring an off-duty officer for a party, road job or traffic control will now cost you quite a bit more, but it will also make the cops and the Taxpayers happier in the process. In a resolution at last night’s Township Committee meeting, the Township increased the off-duty police rates from $47 per hour, to $85 per hour – bringing it up to par with other Townships.

Until now, off-duty officers received $40 and the Township $7. Under the new resolution, off-duty officers will now receive $65, and the Township $20.

The resolution could bring in between $150,000-$200,000 more revenue for the Town, the Mayor said. TLS.

  1. Yes as the big contractors have been making out with the low rates in Lakewood, not giving anything back to the town. SO now everyone benefits and Lakewood is still the lowest paid in the state for all jobs. YES THATS TRUE.

  2. Funny I’ve driven in Lakewood for years, never been stopped or got a ticket…wonder why? Maybe because I actually follow the laws of the roads!!!!!! Follow the laws and you won’t get tickets VERY SIMPLE PEOPLE

  3. As long as you have it straight TLS; 1st It’ll make the “Cops” happier AND THEN the Taxpayers!!! And for all that are unsure how much $85 is covering – Yes! $85 PER HOUR. Thanks TLS for leaving that out in article 🙂

  4. Lakewood, it was NOT left out. It says per hour in the article. Yes, it will make the cops which are off duty happier. And it will also make all of us in the Township happier, $150k happier. Thanks Mr. Mayor.
Let’s add this up. In two months lakewood saved approximately $240k and added $150k. That is $390k!!!!! WOW! Keep up the great work. Isaac is sure doing a lot for the $22k that he is making as a salary. I make a motion for Isaac to get a raise and an appointment as Mayor for life!!!!!

  5. How if you read the article you would know how this is going toile the town more money. Guess you can’t comprehend what you read. It says the police use to make 47.00 an hr and the town took 7.00 from that
Leaving the police with 40 an hr. now the town charges 85 an hr. the cops make 65 and the town makes 20. That’s 13 dollars more an hr for the town. What’s not to like. And as for tickets this has nothing to do with police issuing tickets to make the town revenue. All of this money is paid by the CONTRACTOR not the residents!!

  6. If you book a party and request off duty police officers that is the rate you are going to pay and for most parties there is a minimum for safety of the party goers and the police that are doing the service. Its the going rate no negotiations..they do a dangerous job on their job and when they are protecting you during your parties..its just the way it is.
If you want the best you pay the price..if you want cheap..well you get cheap..quality comes at a price..but All these guys do a great job..professional and pleasant. Remember you get what you pay for.
Sorry. if you dont prefer them then hire private security..they are good at times too..but will call the police if they can not handle it.

  7. In response to to the posting name “Tickets?”
It seems like you have the same mentality as cops to ticket all taxpayers to death so why dont you join the department? and cure your infatuation with tickets.
