  1. “Their resources, experience, and medical oversight are unknown to us.” I am old enough to remember the same kind of objection to Hatzola in it’s earlier days.

So…why don’t you work together in coordination with them and let them learn from your knowledge and experience and benefit from their resources?

There’s no such thing as too many first responders.

  2. I don’t understand. Are there any Rabbonim supporting this other L”Hatzalah “? How can they be operating like this? So dangerous when there is a lack of unity and people and entities break off and do their own thing with an apparent lack of concern for safety, doing the right thing and Daas Torah. Should they be put into Cherum?

  3. These are obviousy people who don’t work together with others if not, they would be on Hatzola of Central Jersey, Not doing their own show. The founder has a lot of money and is doing his own gig.

      • Why not two fire departments? Whichever is called will come, what’s the problem?

Police is different, because they have authority. And only one authority can exist. But what authority does Hatzalah have?

    • Yes, but competetition should also be able to prove they are competent before you entrust them with your life, No?

Let them show who they are, discuss their standards and proceedures, and show who is responsible for their oversight.

The fact that they have not, tells you all you need to know.

    • Not when it comes to life threatening emergencies when moments count.

Bottom line: Find me one other community that has 2 Hatzolah organizations comepeting with each other. And any other types of organizations that you find 2 that do the “same thing”, no one will die if one calls the “wrong one” by mistake.

  4. I don’t understand why they are doing anything wrong by giving out magnets and stickers.

Hatzalah does that too, and so they should. People need the numbers of the emergency services.

I don’t know why they call it ‘gimmicks’, especially when they do the same thing.

The whole story is strange to me. What’s wrong with two organizations? How do they hurt each other? On the contrary, by opening a new one, the first was spurred to add members in more locations. The new one may not have the same relationships with old hospitals and they can use other facilities.

I mamesh don’t understand the whole issue.

  5. Out of curiosity, we have Bonei oilam and A Time. Chai lifeline and Bein Ish v’achiv. There can exists two organizations that have same or similar goals. Too the person that claimed the people weren’t welcome onto Hatzolah because they weren’t worthy I give you the following. In Brooklyn there is an ambulance company called East Midwood. They were also not welcome onto Hatzolah. Once they got off the ground, many became Hatzolah members. Accepting of new members, is an extremely political process. Otherwise the entire process would be handled by the Rabanim and not paid employees. If the leadership of Hatzolah wants to prove it’s not political, every application would be handed to the Rabanim and never touched by the leaders until after the candidate is either accepted or rejected. That should be the process in every branch of Hatzolah.

  6. Obviously, the rabonim feel comfortable letting the leaders be leaders and deciding who would be a good fit, who might have the skills and who is bringing some benefit the organization.
Obviously it’s not political if they don’t take on members just because they feel they deserve it or to soothe a bruised ego. The ego is something we worry about when we are trying to get a 5 year old in to school but not when we are dealing with an organization that is dealing with sakanos nefashos.

  7. Actually hatzalah itself is intended to be a more competent ema which pre existed. So this whole argument doesn’t begin we had 2 and now we have 3

  8. My name is Sam. I am an older member of a 55 or older community. I have a question:
One day I was on Rt9 heading south. Behind me there was a vehicle with blue and white lights flashing, a muted siren blaring and they were speeding. I moved over to the shoulder to let them pass. As they passed I noticed they were not Lakewood Police, or an Ambulance or even Paramedics. The vehicle was an old blue SUV. I thought it was against the law to imitate a Police car, have a siren and flashing lights and speed in a private vehicle? Please can someone explain this to me. Thank you
