New Jersey Votes To Legalize Marijuana

New Jersey voters overwhelmingly supported a ballot measure in Tuesday’s election to legalize the recreational use, possession, and sale of cannabis in the Garden State.

The measure was added to the ballot after legislators in the Assembly were unable to secure enough votes to guarantee its passage.

Legalizing marijuana has been a top priority of Governor Phil Murphy, who argues that laws against the use, possession, and sale of marijuana unfairly targets minorities in New Jersey.

  1. This is a great day for New Jersey. I never smoked Marijuana and I never plan on it. It’s a mostly harmless drug and we waste of our resources arresting all of these people.

    • Marijuana is not a harmless drug. There are many studies regarding cannabis use disorder. It can produce violence, addiction, and suicide. And it is yet another intoxifying substance to worry about increasing DUIs, driving under the influence, a subject which you will not yet find in the statistics yet, because the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has decided there is no way to measure marijuana impaired driving and the “scope and magnitude of the marijuana induced driving problem cannot be clearly specified at this time.” Also, it is the first drug to be legalized, a gateway to all others. Oregon legalized pot in 2015 and now legalized small amounts of cocaine and heroine too. This is bad news. It’s all downhill from here.
