New Jersey Rental Assistance Program Waiting List Application Process Now Open

The New Jersey State Rental Assistance Program Waiting List pre-application process is now open for New Jersey residents through January 31.

The New Jersey State Rental Assistance Program (SRAP) is a State-funded program that provides housing subsidies on behalf of very low-income New Jersey residents for decent, safe, and sanitary housing.

People applying must meet all applicable SRAP income and eligibility requirements. A total of 6,000 households will be selected through a lottery system to be placed on the State Rental Assistance Program waiting list.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older or be an emancipated minor to apply.

The lottery process will be conducted at the close of the application period. Individuals selected from the lottery will be notified by email, and status can be checked online at www.waitlistcheck.com after February 14th.

Applicants must meet certain income limits based on household size and county of residence.

    • Unfortunately it’s become almost impossible to find a rental priced within HUD limits. They haven’t adjusted the limits to account for inflation.

      • I’m not sure how it’s handled in NJ or the tri state area but this years rates for the county I live in are within reasonable market rates locally. I don’t live in an area where the is a high demand for larger homes. Completely different market than the tri state area.
