New Jersey got some much-needed rain over the weekend after a drier than normal Spring so far caused elevated fire conditions, drought warnings and higher pollen levels.
The rain began around 1:30pm on Friday and continued, nearly uninterrupted, until late Sunday night.
Ocean County, which was hit especially hard, saw some of the highest totals in the state, with Berkley Township receiving over seven inches between Friday and Sunday.
In Lakewood, 5.68 inches of rain fell over the three-day period, leading to hundreds of flooded basements and roadways throughout town.
According to statistics provided by Chaveirim of Central Jersey, members responded to over 650 flooding-related calls.
The nearly six inches of rain which fell on average throughout Ocean County is equal to nearly half of the 12.8 inches the county receives on average for the months of January through April combined.
In Toms River, 5.83 inches fell, according to the National Weather Service, while Manchester saw 5.5 inches, Brick 4.8 and Jackson received 4.4.
