New Jersey Assemblyman Considering Legislation to Ban Plastic Bottles

New Jersey Assemblyman Joe Danielsen is considering introducing legislation which would ban single-use plastic bottles.

Danielsen, a Democrat who represents the state’s 17th Legislative District, said in an interview with POLITICO that he is looking into the move after visiting towns in Massachusetts that have similar prohibitions.

“I’m looking into this,” he said. “Single-use plastic bottles are not getting recycled nearly at the rate they’re supposed to be and are often left out along the streets.”

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey signed an executive order in 2023 which banned state agencies from purchasing single-use plastic water bottles.

Details regarding a potential ban in New Jersey are unclear but Danielsen told the outlet he’s reached out to legislative colleagues and environmental groups on the matter.

Danielsen has been posting on his social media accounts recently photos of his trip to Massachusetts, including photos of paper water bottles along with the caption “[t]otal ban on plastic bottle. Beautiful.”

  1. Ok ban plastic bottles and make them like the paper straws. Brilliant!

Or glass so when they are left around ( anyway) they crack and spread glass vs having some smashed plastic bottles that do minimal harm. Please devote some brains in something more productive instead of always looking to curb another product. Politicians think by banning another product they’ll gain more respect. On the contrary- do something productive and gain respect that way.

  2. Wow, a lot of brains gone in over here really trying to make things more inconvenient waste a lot more money. Democrats just stop trying to ruin our country bad enough if you have a Biden in the country which through inflation 10 times amount of any other president and his cronies are just taking it down in the government doing stupid stuff.

  3. NJ Assemblyman Considering Legislation to Ban Human Life
NJ Assemblyman Joe Danielsen is considering introducing legislation that would ban human life due to the carbon footprint that human beings leave upon the Earth, which has the potential to destroy the Earth’s environment.
When asked whether certain human beings who provide proof that they will be recycled and reincarnated after their passing, will be spared from the ban of non-existence due to the fact that they are of the recyclable variety of humans and not the single-use variety of humans, Mr. Danielsen told reporters that, “The problem with humans is the carbon footprint that they leave upon the Earth, hence, recyclable and reincarnated humans, including double-use and triple-use human beings, are even worse for the environment than the unrecylable and non-reincarnated variety of human beings.”
As far as the continued existence of mankind is concerned, Mr. Danielsen told reporters: “Look, I would much rather prefer that our continued existence not be banned if we can find an alternative habitat for humans to live in where we’re not destroying the environment.”
“For example,” he went on to say, “if we can find a way for humans to exist comfortably in outerspace, a place that is so vast in size that our carbon footprint would have very little impact on the environment, then by all means, let’s proceed on with our lives and with our continued existence for as long as humanly possible. But if we can’t find an alternative habitat for the human race to live in without destroying the environment, than I’m sorry to tell you, it’s time we pull the plug on ourselves and call it quits, for good.”

  4. Surprised commenters hate Hashem’s planet so much. Do you know how long it takes for plastics to decompose? Any idea how big of a microplastic problem we have and how deteriorative it is to our health? Fascinating how many of you reflexively mock someone trying to look after people and our planet.

    • How do you know what Hashem wants? If you don’t have a solution, then there’s nothing what to discuss. Biden promised to build many charging stations around the country. You can’t fill one hand with the amount that were actually built? Why? because it’s not cost effective and no one actually wants EV’S.

  5. Please vote republican to outlaw crazy rules. This year alone spent $500 on reusable bags that many don’t reuse and boxes. They are all in garbage and or recycled.
