New Driver’s Licenses In NJ To Use Federally-Mandated TRU-ID

PHOTO: Beginning May 7 in New Jersey, there will be stricter federally-mandated standards – knows as ‘TRU-ID’ to get a new license, the MVC said today. “All Motor Vehicle Commission customers seeking to obtain, renew or change a driver license or non-driver ID will be required to follow the MVC’s TRU-ID document requirements. These requirements will replace the existing 6 Point ID Verification document requirements. Documents presented must show proof of the following: Valid Social Security number, legal identity, legal presence in the United States and principal residence”, the MVC wrote.

To signal that the document is a federally-approved document, New Jersey MVCs will soon be issuing a driver’s license with a single gold star in the upper right corner of the card (pictured).

After Dec. 1, 2017, customers will no longer be able to board a domestic flight or visit a federal agency without the approved document. A U.S. Passport, would still be accepted. You can read more about TRU-ID here. TLS.

  1. so basically nothing has changed, since those are the same documents currently required.. oh wait, we will all get a gold star, its like we are back in kindgergarden.. at a cost of $300 million dollars im sure.

  2. From the TRU-ID site – “…All documents presented by an applicant must be original or certified copies, in English, and have the required state and/or municipal seals….”

In ENGLISH. I guess that means a lot of “undocumented immigrants” will not be getting a driver’s license anymore.

And – “…Pay stub with the applicant’s name and complete Social Security number…”

How will the state know if the Social Security Number is real just because that’s the one on the pay stub? As long as you verbally give an employer a SSN, he don’t care if it’s real or not.

  3. And some bleeding hart Lib Democrat will call this discrimination and the illegales will get special exemptions to the requirements, that us as tax paying legales will have to put up with. Or we could go up to North Jersey and pay one of the workers there for a driver’s license, that’s been done before.

  4. sounds to me like the government is trying to control us more and more, nothing to do with the illegals in my opinion. They want to know who we are, where we are, where we are going etc. This is not necessarily for our good it’s more Big Brother stuff.
