New Bill Would Require New Jersey Colleges – Including Private – To Mandate Covid-19 Vaccinations For Students On Campus

A new bill introduced in the New Jersey Assembly this week would require institutions of higher education in the state – including private colleges – to mandate all students studying on campus to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

According to the text of the bill, beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, “institutions of higher education will be prohibited from enrolling or retaining on an in-person basis any student, or employing, retaining, or utilizing the services of any other individual on an in-person basis, who has not submitted acceptable evidence of vaccination against COVID-19.”

The bill, which was introduced by Assemblyman Herb Conaway (D-Burlington), a doctor himself, would allow for medical and religious exemptions if the student or employee can provide a written statement explaining how the vaccine “conflicts with the bona fide religious tenets or practices of the student or other individual.”

The bill has been referred to the Assembly Health Committee, which is not scheduled to meet before the Legislature leaves for their summer vacation, which would likely mean the bill will not actually become law.

A companion bill in the Senate, sponsored by Senator Joseph Vitale (D-Woodbridge), also a doctor, was introduced in January but never received a vote in the Senate Health Committee.

    • I am not an Anti-vaxxer, but at this point it seems that the vaxxers are dumb. As most of NJ is already immune, either naturally or vaccinated, the requirement for all natural immune people to vaccinate is out of share ignorance or jealousy. There have been no studies showing actual better protection for immunized people than naturally immune. They both get it still very mildly. Just look at Lakewood, most people are naturally immunized, and there has been no real outbreak since the initial outbreak. Requiring everyone to vaccinate at this point, only strengthens the hand of the anti-vaxxers.

      • We still need the vaccines because all immunity, natural or from vaccines, eventually wears off. We need to have vaccines to boost our immunity. What we don’t know yet is how long it takes for immunity to wear off

        • The vaccines do not prevent people from getting covid as has been obvious during omicron. I know vaccinated people who were hospitalized and died from covid so really it basically does not help or if it does help at all, it is not worth the risk. I also know people who were severely injured from these dangerous vaccines and we keep hearing more and more “sudden adult death syndrome”. The best option is to take the FLCCC or zelenko protocol right away or as a preventitve and make sure to stay out of the hospital. STAY AWAY FROM THESE VACCINES

  1. If one has already received a clean bill of health from his doctor, and he has already paid all his medical bills, will he be required to heed THESE NEW BILLS that are being introduced in the State Assembly and Senate by lawmakers who are also doctors, but not necessarily the doctors HE uses? I tried contacting the billing department for clarification, to no avail.

  2. Will they allow a religious exemption like the government does not? This clearly violates the rights outlined in the 1st Amendment. Biden is being sued by a coalition of thousands of lawyers and doctors. The military is depleted because those who applied are not permitted to serve.

So far Orthodox Jews are singled out while other groups are allowed. A precedent is cited in Williamsburg and Borough Park with even a measles outbreak that did not severely impact the community.

  3. the vaccinated spread the virus as much as the unvax
this makes no sense, NJ did not demand it the past two years at the
height of the virus and now , when we have bh so many treatments
they want to do this, sounds very very fishy and anti semishi to me
