PHOTOS: Oorah’s warehouse was buzzing with activity today as a class of 21 sixth-grade girls from Bnos Bracha put their boundless energy to good use. Working feverishly in two assembly lines, the girls, led by their teacher, a former Zone counselor, stuffed all kinds of goodies into gaily-decorated Purim boxes. Completing the process, Oorah staff slapped on mailing labels addressed to thousands of recipients, all somehow connected to Oorah.
“This was no ordinary class trip”, says Oorah. “True, the girls were having the time of their lives, but that wasn’t the point.” As one sixth-grader said, “we’re helping people become Frum.”
Each box was packed with a Purim guide, explaining all aspects of the holiday, a Zone brochure and, of course, lots of nosh. Nearly 3,000 of these mishloach manos were sent out to spread the Purim cheer to families across the country.
These girls came to the job with prior experience, having helped Oorah package their Chanukah gifts earlier in the year.
What does Oorah do?
Lucky girls to be part of this huge Mitzvah. The girls had fun doing it. The kiruv families will have even more fun enjoying the Purim day thanks to Oorah’s help.
Mi K’Amcha Yisroel. Thank you Lakewood Scoop for continuing to publish glad tidings like these, things that make me proud to be a Jew!
I Was one of the girls it Was A BLAST!!!!!!!
You serious? C’mon! They do kiruv work with thousands upon thousands of unaffiliated Yidden.
I guess the question really is, what do you do on behalf of K’lal Yisroel and Hashem?! It’s His children who are falling by the wayside! Don’t you care?!?!
cant wait to get mine’
How does one become part of the oorah family. I’ve donated plenty but never won a prize called oorah family: how does one win that status?
i was there i had a BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So this is where our dollars are going. Great!
Two great organizations! OORAH and BNOS BROCHA!! Proud to be a part of them.
At least we see the money is actually spent somewhere other than advertising!
what sixth grader has access to commenting on the scoop?????
Dear Number 10,
OOrah does great work but what saychis to a school for the bala batim who are not yeshivaleit, in this town only yeshiva familys mean anything, my husband still learns and we live on less but to give credit to a school for the Working people doesnt fly in this town, wake up and smell the coffee. it wont change, yeshiva guys go to the good schools and raintree people go to raintree type schools
to #12: THE MOTHER DID IT!!!
Oorah U R THe Best ! The main reason Y U send out thousands of Purim packages to Jews all over America IS to make Jews Happy N Proud!!HAPPY WITH THE PACKAGES! HAPPY N PROUD THAT THEY ARE JEWISH ! HAPPY AND PROUD KNOWING THAT ALL JEWS CAN CELEBRATE PURIM! AND HAPPY N PROUD THAT ORGINIZATIONS LIKE OORAH WANT THEM TO BE HAPPY AND ENJOY THEIR PACHAGES NO MATTER HOW IRRELIGIOUS THEY COULD BE ,WITHOUT ANY STRINGS ATTACHED!
what is your point?
Actually, the Bnos Bracha girls packaged 1,000 boxes and today a different school came and packaged 2,000.
