Nearly one million New Jersey voters have already voted, and that number is growing rapidly, according to data obtained by the US Elections Project.
In New Jersey, 942,237 voters have already returned their ballots, with 515,201 Democrats, 211,779 Republicans, and 210,779 voters with no party affiliation having voted early.
2,362,999 Democrats in New Jersey have requested mail-in ballots, compared to 1,358,738 Republicans, and 2,169,013 unaffiliated voters, for a total of 5,965,523 requested ballots. Democrats hold a large majority in voter affiliation in New Jersey, but Democrats are still outpacing Republicans in early voting even based on party registration percentage ratios.
The number of early votes reported is almost definitely lower than what the real number is. According to the New Jersey Globe, Bergen County shows 62,067 ballots received, but more than 100,000 ballots have come in.
New Jersey is conducting a nearly universal mail-in election this year, as concerns over the coronavirus prompted Governor Murphy to hold the election this way.
