New Jersey is among the top of states receiving the most allocated federal funds in fiscal year 2008 based on census numbers, says a study released Tuesday, according to a report by CourierPostOnline.com. A Brookings Institution report ranks New Jersey ninth among states in the money it got ($14.4 billion) in fiscal 2008 based on the 2000 census. The high ranking is due to the state’s higher-than-average health care spending. To ensure accurate funding, the report aims at getting more people to participate in the census. Star Ledger
