N.J. Gasoline Prices Continue To Drop For Memorial Day Weekend

lower gas pricesAAA Mid-Atlantic said the average price of regular gasoline was $2.69 in the Garden State on Friday, a 7-cent drop from a week ago. A year ago, motorists were paying $2.30. The national average price also fell this week, dropping by 8 cents to $2.75. The national average a year ago was $2.45. AAA spokeswoman Tracy Noble said the auto club estimates that 32.1 million travelers — a 5.4 percent boost from last year — will take a trip away from home during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. “Declining gas prices, along with the strengthening economy and travel discounts are undoubtedly motivating (travelers),” Noble said.
