State Motor Vehicle Commission officials are investigating selling license plates with logos and numbers of major league sports and NASCAR drivers, which could net the state an estimated $2 million. “In many states, the most popular plates are sports logo plates,” said Ray Martinez, acting MVC chief administrator. “It’s a lost opportunity. We’d like to make them available.” MVC officials are negotiating with major league teams and NASCAR representatives about what they would charge for use of team logos.

“We’re only in the initial discussions,” Martinez said. “We hope to have an answer in the next couple of months.” APP
