  1. I know this is wrong to say but i have basically zero compassion for those who leave their car unlocked, with valuables inside (which is the case in 90% of these incidents)

  2. Our neighboring town Jackson has been hit hard by recent break ins to homes and they are looking for a white male dressed in all black or dark color clothing and most recently seen in the brookwood 1 development off countyline rd near the lakewood border and in the 60 acre reserve development off manhattan street. he has been known to knock on doors to see if anyone is home so if you see a man with this description call 911 or the police right away. my daughter was walking her dog after work about 1am when she saw a man dressed all in black by our home just standing there and when he saw the dog he walked away and we called jackson police but when they arrived the man was no where to be found! Just lock your doors and windows to your home even in the broad daylight and that goes for your cars as well.

  3. When we lived in Coventry Sq. (15 yrs. ago), the prevailing logic was leave your car UNLOCKED with some small change visible inside, this will prevent the thief trying to break your window and tear your car apart looking for money.
Times change and so do the cars.

  4. to post number 1… i was dumb and didn’t lock my car, so they stole my GPS and digital camera from my car… so after that i was really really careful and locked my car even when i was only going somewhere for 2 min!! but then a few months my house was broken into and they took all my electronics and my keys and stole my car, so i guess you can never win!!

  5. It can’t hurt to just be as safe as you can living in this cruel world we live in. we all need to realize that it just doesn’t happen at night these guys are breaking in in broad daylight even with homeowners inside. and if you going out at night leave some lights on and a radio or tv so they think someone is home! Stay Safe Everyone.. Anne

  6. Can TLS please get a Halachic ruling on whether it is permissible to call 911 on Shabbos and under what circumstances.
    Thank You
And perhaps a Rabbi that is willing to sign there name would be most appreciative.

  7. its time to make block watches and get neighboorhood cameras with nightvision installed at key areas inclduing key intersections and the back of development and homes. its not that expensive.

also keep your front, back and side of homes lit up.

also note if you are not home in the day maybe have a radio playing loud as they are hitting homes during the day.\

also note- even if you are at home during the day -lock you doors- especialy the women. these are criminals who have no fear. they will arm themsleves if caught in the act.

an alarm would be the best.

  8. I’ll repeat the idea I mentioned on an earlier post. Maybe it will reach the relevant people.

How about some of the retired cops joining LCSW? That should help stop crime in this town! Question is; do they need to undergo new training to join LCSW??

  9. 9-1-1 is an Emergency Line You call it they will send someone to you. Do not call for Loud music or if you have a phone call that is not life threatening, like a prank call that you have the phone number, for those you can call the local police. It is for true emergencies, Police, Fire, Medical problems..if can not sleep that is not an 9-1-1 emergency.

We get people to you as fast as we can.

  10. If you have nothing but an old car seat in your car, leave it open. If you have a lap top, gps, video player, cell phone, ez pass, and money, you should lock it. Has anyone seen my queen cd anywhere………..

  11. Actually it’s more the people like you who need sensitivity training. The retired cops were the cream of the crop of LPD. It’s a great shame we lost them. At the very least, appreciate what we no longer have!
