Police are investigating the burglaries to several vehicles in the Village Park and Kew Gardens developments over the weekend. Detective Steve Wexler tells TLS four vehicles were reported burglarized yesterday morning, apparently all taking place Sunday night.
Stolen from the vehicles were GPS devices, radios and a gold bracelet.
The vehicles were all left unlocked, Wexler says.
“Again, we’re asking the public to lock your vehicles”, Wexler says. “Some are worried that they may damage to car if it’s locked, I’ve never had that in such scenarios”, Wexler says.
Wexler also asked that those going away to the Mountains or on any other vacations during the Summer, to take the extra 10-15 minutes to properly lock all the doors and windows to their homes.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Wexler at 732-363-0200, extension 5344.
how many times does it need to be said Don’t leave anything of value in your car ? left unlocked? thats like saying please steal me ~ just making it way to easy for a thief .
In a town that has a substantial amount of crime I cannot imagine having such a false sense of security that I didn’t have to lock up all my belongings.
I guess some people have to learn a lesson the hard way.
My car was locked last summer & they broke my window to get in. They didn’t even end up taking anything & it cost me $230 to fix.
Would’ve been cheaper if I left the car unlocked…
i cant believe an article like this even has to be written.. its like sussman’s letter reminding people not to leave their children in locked cars during the summer. are people really so busy they forget their brains?
people should also be aware that just because you’re living in a jewish community doesn’t mean nothing will happen to your car. just like you keep your house locked at night ( i hope they do ), you should treat your car like you treat your house. always keep your possessions locked.
even if you have nothing valuable in the car, ALWAYS lock your car when it’s not in use.
