DEVELOPING: Multiple High-Profile Twitter Accounts Hacked; Scammers Make Millions Off Incident [UPDATE]

Twitter is investigating after the Twitter accounts of multiple high-profile individuals and entities were hacked and spam messages sent out.

Some of the affected targets are Joe Biden, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Warren Buffet, and rapper Kanye West. Firms affected by the hack include Cash App, Coinbase, and Gemini.

The hackers sent out messages telling people that if they sent $1,000 in Bitcoin to a certain address, they would get back $2,000.

According to reports, more than $7 million has already been paid to the scammers by individuals believing the tweets were legitimate.

UPDATE: Twitter has reportedly stopped all tweets from accounts with blue check marks in an attempt to contain the damage being wrought.

  1. Likely one of those H1B techies from a foreign country with nuclear capabilities. The whole of Twitter is down. Why anyone would be on Twitter is beyond me. Just idiots who click on links without a second thought. It’s not a Kosher bird.
