Mulitple Vehicles Burglarized In Village Park

Multiple vehicles were burglarized in Village park over Shabbos, residents say. At least three vehicles were burglarized, by what appears to be the work of a single individual. The doors to all the vehicles seem to have been left unlocked, as none of the windows were broken.

A GPS and other electronic items were stolen from the vehicles.

The incidents were reported to Lakewood Police, but CIU no longer responds to vehicle burglaries, as earlier reported. TLS-MK.

I guess some will never learn ,cars left unlocked ? and to make matters worse valuables left in the cars why not just put a sign in the window please come and take what ever you want

common sense

these aren’t sophisticated burglars. These are people committing crime of opportunity. They jiggle the door, if it opens they go in but if its locked they just move on to the next car/house.
People just gotta learn to lock their doors….

I’m not sure that its better to lock the doors it might cost u a window, in most cases its more costly to fix that over what these lowlifes steal

Anyone who leaves their car unlocked in this town and is burglarized, should pay the police for any and all costs associated with investigating and documenting the crime

so go ahead, blame the victims…yes, they should’ve locked their doors, but the last time i checked STEALING IS A CRIME! if the law turns a blind eye to this, then I don’t want to hear any excuses and pontification on why they go around the synagogues and give ticky-tacky parking tickets. everyone screams “Obey the law!” about that, but here they are silent.
well, here i scream “ENFORCE THE LAW”

Well LCSW needs to be supported better for just these kind of reasons police take reports but never see them actually driving around village park for a proactive I’ve seen Lcsw in frum neighborhoods just to deter this sort of thing

anyone who thinks its a wise thing to do leaving their cars unlocked in Lakewood has not lived here long enough to know better!
PS many insurance companies will NOT cover items stolen if you leave you vehicle unlocked !!!

I was in a store in lakewood at the end of the summer when a bunch of teens came in looking for a part for a game device. The worker asked them if it was stolen from a friend. The boys answered shockingly, “something like that!” I wasn’t sure what I was to do after hearing that. I pray they were kidding. By the way, some of my neighbors don’t lock their car doors claiming they have nothing to be robbed of in there until…they are robbed. Point in story: a rich mans garbage is a poor mans gold. Lock your doors.

If all the criminals know that entire neighborhoods are silent from Friday to Saturday, and that no one will pickup the phone to call the police for a suspicious person, and most people are away or inside their homes… of course it’s going to be a prime target.

I don’t want to blame the victim, I’m not going to say it serves them right for not protecting their property- BUT, don’t leave your electronics or loose change out in view, and DO NOT leave your doors unlocked. Don’t make yourself into any more of an easy target than you have to be!

I only see Lcsw patrols in frum complex areas like chatou , forest park, presidential , ect… But unfortunately without proper funding and membership were gonna see less shomrim response in town h’svchlm .. I understand without support it’s hard to keep an organization operational
