The most recent Jackson Township Council was a sickening display of anti-Semitic vitriol, activism, and general hatred for religious Jewish people. Having only now had the chance to watch the meeting’s proceedings, I was shocked not only by the sheer animosity on full display, but perhaps even more so by the deafening silence of the Jackson Township Council members, most notably Council President Andrew Kern.
Mr. Kern has a responsibility to allow members of the public to express their opinions freely and openly as guaranteed by the First Amendment. But just as weighty as Mr. Kern’s constitutional responsibilities is his responsibility to stand up for all of his constituents, particularly those who are unfairly targeted, discriminated against, and hated by racists and bigots for no reason other than the religion they follow. Mr. Kern had a responsibility to defend his Jewish neighbors and brethren, yet he refused to do so.
Despite the appalling nature of the accusations and nastiness spewing from several Jackson residents against their Jewish neighbors, Mr. Kern said nothing and did nothing to ensure that Jewish residents of Jackson Township feel welcome.
This was particularly disturbing to me as it represented a complete stabbing in the back of Orthodox Jewish residents of Jackson on the part of Mr. Kern. When he ran for election, he met with many Jewish voters and community activists, promising that he would be different than other Jackson officials and would be a friend to the Jews of the town. Ultimately, Mr. Kern gained the trust of many Orthodox Jews who took him at his word, and who voted to elect him. Yet when push came to shove, Kern did nothing to defend Orthodox Jews in the face of disgusting attacks by bigoted residents.
Mr. Kern, why were you silent and why do you remain silent? Why are you turning away from your constituents – a minority who have been unfairly attacked and orchestrated against by hateful members of the community? As council president, why don’t you use your position of power to serve all of Jackson’s residents?

No one in our neighborhood likes Mr. know it all.
We all protest in front of Mayor Building demanding answer of “Hate Don’t Belong in Government “ this is outage situation!! I will not tolerate this behavior!!!

Poor Andy is being exposed.
The main absence of this letter is that the writer fails to mention the word “GOLUS” sorry but I can’t take your 1st world problems seriously when you fail to mention the one thing that is behind all of this.
Hashem
Go easy. We are in golus. Rav Schwab zt”l would say that we can’t expect an אינו יהודי to be our friend and just appreciate every אינו יהודי that is not our enemy.
Btw, if the plan is to create in Jackson the congestion that has been created in Lakewood, we cannot be תולה this in antisemitism only.
Everyone knows it’s Andy Kern who runs Jackson, not the mayor. The mayor gets all his political advice from Mr. Kern. Mr. Kern is a well education, well spoken college degree holder. Reina is a two bit con from Brooklyn who can barely speak English
