Since its humble inception some 10 years ago, Rabbi Chaim Abadi has grown the minyan into what has become a truly fascinating story. What began as a minyan for a small group of young men feeling that they lacked a place to daven, has resulted into a home for so many teenagers and young men. Whether it is the many minyanim, shiurim, therapy, breakfast, hot suppers, game rooms or trips, to many, this large building on Rt. 88 is home. Besides Reb Chaim, many of his alumni are today the driving force behind the Minyan.
“Not many people can do what Reb Chaim and the Minyan does for Lakewood, and even less want to”, a supporter of Minyan Shelanu says.
This Shabbos, Rabbonim and community leaders will join the hundreds of attendees for a truly uplifting Shabbos at their annual Shabbaton at the Doubletree Hilton in Somerset, NJ. On Motzai Shabbos, there will be an exciting and festive Melava Malka with food, live music and singers, and a Chinese Auction with some great prizes.
“This would be a perfect time to help one of the only organizations in Lakewood that has not a single person involved in it who receives a paycheck”, says Minyan Shelanu. “Everyone involved in the Minyan is either donating their time and/or their money”.
