Motorcyclist and Passenger Critically Injured in MVA; One Airlifted

UPDATED: A motorcyclist and a passenger were critically injured in an accident this afternoon, officials say. The accident occurred shortly after 2 PM on Lakewood New Egypt Road, between Cross Street and Hope Chapel Road, and involved another vehicle.

An official who responded to the scene says the vehicle was coming out of a nearby shopping plaza, causing the motorcycle to t-bone the vehicle, sending the driver and passenger into the air.

The driver, a man, was in Traumatic Arrest, and the passenger, a woman, suffered serous injuries.

Hatzolah MONOC Paramedics transported the male driver to KMC and the woman to a waiting helicopter at the Jackson High School, from where she was airlifted to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating the incident.

UPDATE: The motorcyclist was pronounced dead. TLS.
