Why do car riders need car seats till the age of 9 and rear belts even for adults while the same govt allows cyclists to ride unprotected. Where is thier concern?
NJ is one of the few states that require motorcyclists to even require helmets. All drivers are responsible to keep them safe by obeying the driving laws including a safe distance just like if they were in cars. One of the most common causes for these types of accidents is the driver tapping the motorcyclists rear tire. Keep a safe distance as if they were a car, your car, and many lives and senseless accidents of this type could be avoided. Respect them as they respect you.
G-D bless the driver may he have a speedy recovery.
This intersection Swarthmore and Cedar Bridge is very dangerous, because drivers going from Swarthmore and making a right turn onto Cedar Bridge on red cant see the road because of trees and shrubs. So they are forced to inch into the roadway and often end up in the path of cars and trucks that are traveling at 50 – 70 MPH.
So one car breaks and the Motorcycle rear-ends him. and the rest is sad history.
There are numerous dangerous intersections in and around Lakewood, the Police, EMS, LFD, and Hatzolah, can easily point them out to Township, county and State engineers. Very often the problems can be solved with little impact on the tax payer.
