[The following letter was submitted today to TLS by the mother of Justin Williams – allegedly killed by Jahmell Crockam – following’s TLS’s report about his trial] I want to say that we were taken back by the outpour of support for Justin & our family. It shows that there is still hope for us to overcome this tragedy & it helps to make us feel not alone in our fight. We want to help others, we have asked to speak at the gang awareness programs & have never gotten any returned calls from anyone.
I try to give a good word to the others that followed this same road. When I see a friend of Justins struggling or just truly confused about their lifestyle, I feel the need to I guess counsel them and hear their story in hopes of helping them. There have been many other friends that have come to us in hopes of hearing a positive voice in order to find their way. We welcome all of them. I don’t think that we are capable of changing the world, but offering a positive voice & some comfort may change 1 and that’s good enough for us.
[Responding to comments #1 & 2 on the recent Crockam story] yes it’s for the family, we were in the courthouse (were not allowed to enter the courtroom, due to overpacking the room) when Mr Crockam was sentenced. This to us was step 1 of our healing. Although we will never completely heal from this, every step makes this easier to life with. We have contemplated the death penalty as a better punishment, but then they will not suffer anything. When someone plans to commit murder, they have already accepted their fate & death to them is the easy way out. What is harder for them is sitting in prison watching others raise their children & hearing everything thru the grapevine sort of speak. There will be a day when reality kicks in and they will realize what they have done was a true sin int he eyes of everyone including the Lord whom they rely on now more then ever. The truth shall set you free, not lies, not murder! We CAN live with this!
Our son is safe, our son is not struggling anymore, our son is with his grandmother whom he has cherished & wanted to be with since her passing. The road for Justin has been paved and its a good road to follow, HEAVEN is the direction. Again, thank you for your concerns and comments & if anyone has any offers for us to tell Justins story, please email.
I wish nothing but blessing to you and your family, and may you help those who need it. may Justin rest in peace
