Two large elementary schools in Lakewood will be installing dozens of security cameras throughout their classrooms, TLS has learned.
Toras Aron and Shagas Aryeh – two of Rabbi Kanarek’s schools – will be installing approximately 50 security cameras to provide security for both students and teachers, a school administration official told TLS.
The cameras, purchased with security grant funds, are in addition to the current dozens of cameras throughout the school grounds and buildings.
Not geshmak. Specially for the rebbi.
Why would it be ‘not geshmak’? A Rebbi should have nothing to hide.

Would you feel comfortable sitting at your desk at your job if a camera was focused on your face every second of the day ?
If the person is not comfortable, they can change jobs. or get used to it. Sometimes a person has to go out of his comfort zone

Wow!!!! Baruch hashem!!! May all the school continue in this path! SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN IS OUR PRIORITY!!!! Nothing to Hide. No reason to be afraid of cameras. If you had 100 million dollars sitting on a desk in a school , would you start thinking should there be cameras or shouldnt there be cameras?? These our children!!!!!!
Why not feel comfortable? It’s not like it is being broadcast all over. It is for rebbi’s security very much.
I once had a kid accuse me of hitting him, which was an outright lie never happened not even close. Once I told him that the room is under constant surveillance, he apologized to me and asked me not to tell the principal. Here is a rebbi all for cameras in the classrooms
I would like to see the reaction if every employer wpuld focus a camera on his workers faces every second of the day. Wpuld all you commenters still want that to happen to you ?
Many good women teachers are not comfortable with the principal or office staff being able to watch every facial expression they make the entire day while teaching .
Firstly most businesses and offices do have cameras. Secondly its not like they watch the millions of hours of footage for fun, they generally only watch when there is an issue and they need to know what happened in a particular situation. As Tony mentioned its just as beneficial to the teachers as it is to the students. You don’t end up with a “he said”, “she said ” problem. Where anyone can accuse you of anything.
As a teacher why has been teaching for many years I would be fine with this and even better, I think this is a brilliant move. Way to go!
I am a teacher who is very much in favor of this when it is done correctly nobody is watching me at any given moment it is only available if a question arises
Many employees are currently under video surveillance. Think about every retail establishment. Cameras provide security and accountability. It’s not likely that someone is monitoring them constantly, but they are probably recording and can be accessed if needed. As I always tell my children- wherever you go and whatever you do, assume you’re on camera or any random person can be photographing you. We all know Someone is always watching but this concept makes it more tangible.
I dont really understand . In most cases ,the allegations of a teacher abusing somebody come lot of weeks or months after the fact . Very few security systems have the capacity to keep the recordings for such a long period of time . The recordings constantly record over the old recordings so that it’s usually only a couple of weeks of videos that are available .

I’m a teacher and there are surveillance cameras. I have no problem with it I think it’s great for the teachers and for the students
Big Mistake I’m a Rebbi here in Town. I’m totally against having a camera in the Classroom. First of all we’re entitled to have some private space, not being watched every moment by our principal. Secondly when I do Parsha I act out the Parsha in a very exciting way. I’ll put on Interesting clothing etc. I’m not interested in my principle watching all that!!

Evry single school needs this.
A principal has every right to see how the teacher and students perform.
Many offices and businesses actually do have cameras… u get used to it.
But the amount of abuse whether from student to student or otherwise that has no proof without the footage will make rhings a whole lot easier to avoid and nip in the bud.
I know students that complained other students were bullying them or being inappropriate when the rebbi wasnt in the room….
Nothing was done and and the child was told he was making it up.
Proof is in the pudding. Is that how the saying goes?
