Yes they have Monday off, it’s a holiday that is observed in the USA.
Start to pay attention to what holidays are observed by American citizens, you might be surprised.

#5 – Ditto!

let me explain

To not under a rock and others- we all are well aware of our national holidays as American citizens. What is very unusual is for government offices to be closed on BOTH Lincoln’s Birthday AND President’s day. Post office and banks were open on Lincoln’s Birthday, unlike the Township offices.

February 12th is the birthday of Abraham Lincoln. February 18th is the birthday of George Washington. Traditionally governement offices and services were closed on both days, many years ago the two days were combined into Presidents Day. That being said- governement offices/services and banks have the option to closed as they wish!

For those who are not aware, the federal government consolidated the celebration of this country’s two most well known and influential leaders from the long held tradition of having two days off to having one day off. It is then the option of the local state and municipal governments to determine how o celebrate these two Americans. Instead of complaining, go on about your day like it is any other day. The only ones who are truly effected are those who are working and will be inconvenienced, and they really should not be complaining.

Get a copy of the holiday schedule! It is not private information. And when you have a $1 bill or $5 bill in your hand, it may bring back a memory or to… Unless you have some other special money? It says USA on the ones I have….

You must have been sleeping in History class.

George Washington was born in Virginia on February 11, 1731, according to the then-used Julian calendar. In 1752, however, Britain and all its colonies adopted the Gregorian calendar, which placed Washington’s birth on February 22, 1732

I stand corrected on the birthday of Mr. Washington. . . Thank you.

(I did question the date as an error after I hit submit and I should have gone back and made a correction to my post) However, my point was not the accuracy of the date of the birth. My point was that there is an acknowledgement of both dates as the businesses or institutions see fit.

Thank you # 10 for the eloquent explanation!

Hope all that had the day off enjoyed!
