Moadim L’simcha Opens Their Bi-Annual Food Distribution Operation To Thousands

VIDEO: This evening, Mo’adim L’simcha organizers began their bi-annual food distribution operation, which supplies thousands of families in need of large quantities of Yom Tov necessities at below retail prices. The event  – which this year took place in the parking lot of the Blue Claws Stadium – is coordinated by the directors of Tomchei Shabbos.

Chaverim, as well as the Lakeowod Police Department, were on hand to assist with traffic.

  1. this is by invitation only was started for rabbeim/kollelleit and extended last year to larger sized families the prices are wholsale but when shopping for yomtov the savings do add up
kudos go to the askonim who arranged this for our community this year they arranged for other cities to join detriot, baltimore, clevland and were able to substantially (do to bulk buying power)lower the prices even further

the items cover the basics one uses for yomtov wine/grape juice papergoods, chicken meat, fish as well as assorted other dry goods that people use thruout the year they are able to get a good deal on
truth to be told their isnt any kollel store as lakewood used to have and at least 3 times a year people are able to save $$
the askonim under the circumstances considering the hours and hours of prep work ordering computers orders deliveries coordination set up etc the man power volunteers needed all did a terrific job may hashem repay you all for your chesed and bentch you with a kesiva vachsima tova

  2. What about the stores that serve you a whole year & wait for Yom Tov to make their profits to cover rent & overhead for the year? Why do they have to suffer? Did anyone discuss this with the proper Rabonim & point out this side of the equation? And no I’m not a store owner but Last Pesach one was crying to me that he did very poorely & waits all year for Pesach & now what should I do with all the produce I ordered in bulk for my reg. cust. Eat it? Gevald! We need to see both sides & have an odom godol guide us properly.

  3. these stores make profit off us all year round, not just yom tov.. when they can charge $5 for a box of cheerios, when another supermarket charges $2.50,. there is plenty for them to line their pockets.

  4. to #8 ,to let you know what is going on ,these stores have tremendous amount of money owed to them by customers & alot of times they will never see the money owed to them & have to face the threat of suppliers not shipping them if they dont pay & by taking away the yom tov buissness from them they will have to stop giving credit to customers ! they are running probarly the biggest gemach in lakewwod !!!
They also collect money in their stores for tomchai shabbos every week which adds up to hundreds of thousands of dollars a year !which a good part (if people dont pay ) they will never see back ! something should be worked out between the stores & tomchai shabbos to give vouchers to the stores that these customers owe money to ,

  5. in support of #10,as a relative of one of these stores ,i hear stories how my relative tries to collect money that is owed to him ! he has to pay workers to make numerous phone calls & send out letters & after he finally gets through on the phone they tell him its a safek if he is owes money bchlall & even if he owed maybe he paid so maybe he is a sfek safekah & many more lomdisha torah ,.To din torah you cant go because he taynos ain le! er hut nisht ! these stores are doing the work of tomchai shabbos & are raising money for them ,so it is not right to go behind their back & ignore their situation ! Tomchai shabbos should meet with these stores & work with them so they could help supplying all year their services because if they stop their credit to customers tomchai shabbos budget will quadruple & go broke !
