Donating blood to a blood bank as opposed to an individual is questionable in halacah. All are advised to ask their Rov confidentially as for obvious reasons no Rov can risk going on record against the practice.
Reb Dovid Solvetchik zt”l said that the reason we learn הלכה from the word הליכה is because a yid must live his life going exclusively in the way הלכה dictates.
