Since its humble inception some 10 years ago, Rabbi Chaim Abadi has grown the minyan into what has become a truly fascinating story. What began as a minyan for a small group of young men feeling that they lacked a place to daven, has resulted into a home for so many teenagers and young men. Whether it is the many minyanim, shiurim, therapy, breakfast, hot suppers, game rooms or trips, to many, this large building on Rt. 88 is home. Besides Reb Chaim, many of his alumni are today the driving force behind the Minyan.
“Not many people can do what Reb Chaim and the Minyan does for Lakewood, and even less want to”, a supporter of Minyan Shelanu says.
This Shabbos, Rabbonim and community leaders will join the hundreds of attendees for a truly uplifting Shabbos at their annual Shabbaton at the Doubletree Hilton in Somerset, NJ. On Motzai Shabbos, there will be an exciting and festive Melava Malka with food, live music and singers, and a Chinese Auction with some great prizes.
“This would be a perfect time to help one of the only organizations in Lakewood that has not a single person involved in it who receives a paycheck”, says Minyan Shelanu. “Everyone involved in the Minyan is either donating their time and/or their money”.
Click here to be directed to their Chinese Auction page and view the prizes.
You can also enter the raffle by calling: 732-552-5998, or via fax by clicking here and printing out an order form.
Reb Chaim shlita! what a holy man that does everything for his family and the klal anytime anyplace! The minyan is a great place to daven, hang out or shoot a game of pool upstairs! I suggest everyone out there to pass by there and check it out. 145 ocean ave(rt 88).

Even though I was (physically) in yeshiva till about about a year ago, I cant discuss on this public forum – the religious turmoil I’ve been going thru 4 the past few years.
Yes, I was bar Mitzvahed.
Yes, My parents did love me.
Yes, My teachers did try.
I am now what people can call an official “yeshiva drop-out”
Since I’ve left yeshiva, I’ve been doing things which I will not discuss here. My life has been constantly heading in a downward direction, untill it got to a point where I started wondering how much longer I can tolerate this boring empty life!
That all changed the first time I met you, Rabbi Abadi. I introduced myself. But, you already knew who I was. You even knew everything I’ve gone thru & what I was up to. You seemed like some sort of “peolpe’s tzaros grand central info. station”.
Although we spoke every now and then, It was still difficult for me to enter a building that has a beis medrash. It was a big step for me the first time i entered Minyan Shelanu.
I cant thank you and all the guys, rabbis, and others who are there. Whenever I come by, they ask me “whats up?’ And I started feeling closer to them — i dont know y.
I feel like they really care for me. I dont know why but thats what I feel.
I think I might wanna start learning a little bit. (I love to watch Benny!)
Rabbi and all you great people at the Minyan I owe you my life! I dont know where i would be without you.
I dont want to know!
UPDATE:
Rabbi…you saved my life! I would love to spend Shabbat together at the Shabbaton. However, I cant afford to fly in from Israel!
Life is great! My rebbis in yeshiva –here in Israel- are amazing! I never thought I would make anything of my life. It was ONLY you – Rabbi & all the guys at the Minyan who always kept encouraging me – each in their own patient way. How do you have so much patience for guys like me?!?!
When I came to the Minyan for the first time, I hadn’t been acting too religious for some time. No need to speak of that here. YOU guys made me! I don’t know how you do it. I guess it’s a gift from Gd.
I still have a long way to go. (Don’t we all?) I hope you are gonna come visit me soon like you did for the guys last year.
To the rest of my buddies at Minyan – COME TO ISRAEL!!! Come to yeshiva! Life is great.
Cant wait to win the keurig machine. I love eating them.
The dedicated volunteers at the minyan are extremely successful and love each and every Jew. It is true not one person there gets a paycheck! Only zchar in the next world!
to number 4 drink you cant eat it
rabbi Abadi should have a !ong healthy life!
tO # 4
You dont eat them! You use it to vaccuum. (I think it’s the latest)
i have the opportunity to learn there on a regular basis and i’m very impressed by rabbi abbadi’ s great work. its definately a worthy cause to support!!
Rabbi abadi is a real life saver, my son was on the street and now thanks to the minyan he is learning in yeshiva in isreal.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK RABBI ABADI.
MAY HASHEM REWARD YOU & ALWAYS BE WITH YOU
this is one of the most worthy causes
yeshivah bachurim should not be hanging out there
to 12
If a yeshiva bachur shows up, he’s either in search of help, or is kindly asked not to return.
PS some former ‘yeshiva bachurim’ would STILL be yeshiva bachurim, had they shown up there…..
Cool place
